This course is below average. Two main points:- I was looking forward to playing after hearing about the renovations and improvements. There were none visible. The greens and tee boxes are awful and the fairways are full of bumps, dead grass, divots, etc. - I was hoping to play for $21, the senior rate. Imagine my surprise when I was charged $37. The unfriendly Pro shop gentlemen stated "That's the rate". Which was the first words to spoke to our foursome. I called later, only to find out that the cart fee is $16 per player. Imagine paying $32 for a cart rental! BYW, if you have a gift certificate read it carefully. If there is no paid cart fee, you will play the course for $32. Wow! -I was hoping that Saddlebrook was on the way upwards. It is NOT. Do not play this course, unless you want to be disappointed.
The golf course is barely average and the golf range is crooked. It fields to the left. Guess its not as awkard if you're a lefty. Does not seem to be much appreciation for its patrons. They the most muddiest hitting grounds but they don't even but one simply bucket of water to clean your clubs off while your on the range. This is especially annoying when your done and you have to leave your irons caked up with mud on them or use your towel and it looks like someone took a dump on your towel after wiping your clubs. know i have the task when I get home of washing out all this thick mud on my towel and thowing it in the dryer costing me more money and time. All because your too lazy to put out a bucket of water...not even soap dude.. just water...wow really?1?
I kind of determine where we play on our 8-10 2 or 3 day trips per year and the internet is usually my guide. Their internet site indicates this course looks a lot better than it actually is. I usually don't like to bash any course, but this course can be a lot better with minor improvements. I liked the layout, especially the front nine. It's not a long course, but some very narrow fairways make it tough. The back nine was in better shape but overall the tees, greens & fairways need work
Cannot beat the value for a $20 twilight rate for 18 with a cart. This course has great value so understand that it will get a lot of hacks like myself. It is a beautiful area of Indianapolis and the course is appealing but one will notice the amount of traffic it sees versus their current maintenance capabilities -- the greens, fairways, and tee boxes are beat up in places and the sand traps are hardened dirt. Where there are not problems though, the course is in decent shape. Very soft greens, grass is well maintained mostly. All things considered, I will play here again often for the value.
