Have played the course several times. I play on a Tuesday Morning 9 hole Woman's League that is open to the public and really enjoy it. I have read complains about the course. I am just getting back in to golf after 15 yrs of not playing. I didn't find anything wrong with the actual course. There were a few patches of weeds or grass growing where they didn't look like they should be growing but it didn't affect my golf gate. I felt the bathrooms are a tad bit run down considering what you pay to play their & the back bathrooms didn't have any hand soap. Also a couple of times there was no cart person. I don't drink but I do like to refresh my ice when its hot out. The starter was very nice to us as was all the staff. The restaurant also has good luck and they have Gluten Free options, which is great. I am actually considering becoming a member.
Do not waste your time at this club for a WHILE. The greens are lost and this absolutely beautiful layout is a big disappointment solely because of that. EVERY green has sporadic growth left due to fungal infestation. They have done their best to make them playable but every green plays like a plugged and top dressed green at best. I am no course superintendent, but I think they are a LONG way from recovery. Once the greens are back, it will be AWESOME though. NOT UNTIL THEN.
Zero customer service! Stay away! After they overbooked the golf course and also due to the frost delay we started 2hrs later after our tee time. The starter did a very poor job of scheduling and caused a major stall. After asking starter of why can't we start on hole 1 vs. hole 10 (where 4 groups of foresome were already lined up waiting to tee off) he got so annoyed that he start raising his voice but could not give me a good reason of why is he so stubborn. After the hot discussion with zero customer appreciation in his mind he lost it and charged at me as he would want to hit me. I am an athlete with 6'3' and 200 lbs with martial arts background and could easily take care of the old man but instead a free ride to the county jail I decided that I'd rather talked to the management in the office. Unfortunately, even there I could not find any customer service so I decided to call it a day and left St. Marlo for good without hitting a single ball. Unless you like to be treated poorly STAY AWAY FROM ST. MARLO!!!!!! I've heard several people telling me similar experience that St. Marlo offers.
Cart broke down on 13, no answer in Pro Shop, no phone in cart barn! Pushed cart for 2 holes, walked and carried our bags for 3 more holes! 40 lb bag up and down steep hills for 45 minutes! Talked to Head Pro said he would make it right and never did. Overall, seems like it could be a nice place to play? Never finished our round to fin out! Seems way over rated as compared to other courses in the area! Way down on the Customer Service side, kinda seems like if you are a member you get treated one way and if you are a guest it is totally different! You decide!
