Called ahead a day prior to make sure I could rent clubs, on the phone a young man answered and told me “Yes” we are renting out clubs. Today I come in register and when I mention about the club rental they tell me they are not renting clubs, drove 20 min here and now another 20 back. They didn’t even try to figure out who was the one that told me or offer any type of help.
I played here on 6/27/14 and found The Fairways to be a very fun course to play. The day I played the wind was blowing pretty good so that made it interesting. There has been alot of rain recently and there was standing water on many fairways and areas of rough. The fairways could use more yardage signs as well. The course flowed very well while there are some homes on the back 9. My favorite hole was the par 3 7th. Go out and play The Fairways.
I had played this course sporadically over the last 15 or so years. Although usually enjoyable, it has always been a trivial course to play. The last three years I have become a regular player on this course due to the incredible transformations I have seen the course undergo. The course and course playability was probably at its worse around five years ago and rebuilding a course from practically scratch is not an easy task. Amazingly over the last three years the management and grounds crews have indeed done just that. The course has taken on an entire new feel and the course conditions are outstanding. The course I had always considered an “easier” course to play has taken on a far more formidable and challenging playability. The front 9 still has all of the classic characteristics of a “Links Style” course. Accuracy is key here as players will find that inaccuracy will most certainly push up their score. The Back nine resemble a more traditional course layout. Smart play and critical shot making decisions by players here will most likely yield a lower score. As a regular player at many of the area courses I think any golfer that dismisses this course as an easy or below standard course without seeing the current course layout and conditions are missing out on a truly great golfing experience.
Great for a beginner
