If I wasn't playing golf with my best friend the day would have been horrible. Pulling into the bag area drop off, the 'caddies' grabbed bags and put them on a cart already being used by an elderly couple. We parked and hiked (quite a long walk for non-members) from our car and realized our bags were on their way to the putting green.
After fixing that minor error we checked in with the rudist, snobbiest, grumpiest starter I've ever encountered. He was aggravated with us because our names were not on his starting line-up. We had already paid and the Proshop had our reservations up the hill. Poor communication on their part resulted in attitude towards us.
The field was open and we enjoyed the scenery of the course, though the Dismal Swamps are on fire and Williamsburg is completely smoked out.
The greens were HORRIBLE! I've played municipal courses with better greens. They were so bad we instituted a two putt rule, as if we were on temps.
The fairways are extremely wet. I don't think it rained that hard so they either have a drainage issue or overwater.
This course is NOT worth what they charge. There are many better courses in the area with friendly staff and nicer facilities. STAY AWAY until they appreciate their paying patrons.

Absolutely loved this course (actually all three of the Fords Colony courses, but Blackheath was my fav). The rates were extremely reasonable for the area and would save the money by playing here instead of the Golden Horseshoe or Kingsmill. The clubhouse amenities and conditioning was perfect. Would recommend to anyone.

Note - When we played there the yardage markers were all messed up because they tried to convert this course to a family friendly course. This is not to say its easy (they tried to put temporary tee boxes in the fairways), just bring your GPS or rangefinder.
