We play this course a few times a year and it is one of our favorites. It is a pretty challenging course especially since its on the water and can get really windy sometimes. This course offers a lot of different challenges and is a very good course to play a scramble or best ball outing on. For the price this course is one of the best in the area and overall the course is well maintained with greens in good condition most of the year. This course is worth the money and I think everyone should give it a try.
Sleepy Hole is one of the better courses I have found in Suffolk. The 18th is the best finishing hole i have found in suffolk, and maybe in the Tidewater area (notwithstanding the more expensive courses or some private courses). The best asset to the course is the greens. They are fantastic - fast and true, with almost no bad spots that can be found at comparably priced courses. The only negative I can come up with is that the par 3s are very similar in length from the blue tees (all 140-170 yards with similar set up). The remaining holes are a true test of a golfer's skills. There are a decent number of doglegs both left and right, varying lengths, and the landscape is varied as well, with some holes having tree lined fairways, and others being more wide open. Additionally, the course matches the surrounding landscape perfectly, which is becoming more and more rare. I have played Riverfront, Nansemond River, Bide A Wee, Honeybee, several others in this area and this is my favorite so far. This course is ideal for someone interested in a no-gimmick, straightforward test looking to pull different shots from their bag on a regular basis.
