This is great course but it will definitely test your ability. Every time I have played here, the course has been in great shape. Being an Arnold Palmer course, you would expect nothing less. There are some great holes on this beautiful layout, but some of them will eat you alive. Hole #9 is deceptivly hard as it plays short, downhill, and downwind. But your approach to the green is very difficult to stop as the wind can send your ball into the water directly behind the green. #10 is a long par 3 that plays back into the same wind that hurt you on #9 and now can make this hole play 3 to 4 clubs more than what you think! There are numerous holes on the back 9 that are super demanding, and 17 and 18 and can leave you headed home in tears. #17 is a super long par 4 that can play like a par 5, with houses down both sides of the fairway (5 is a good number here). And 18 requires a very precise tee shot to a narrow landing area heavily guarded by sand and a creek down the left. This tee shot makes it a definite 3 shot hole. Play on the course can sometime be quite slow, and I dont think the pro-shop staff is overly polite. But as long as you dont expect to have the low round of your life, you will find the condition and layout of Arnold's design well worth the trouble. Prices are a little bit high, but the course is in a very popular location so I dont see that changing any time soon.
The golf course was in better shape than I expected for this time of year. The fairways were in great shape plus the green rye grass made them look plush. The greens were also nice sometimes too nice for my shots. Lol I would certainly recommend the golf course and I will return there again. The course has a unique, fun and challenging layout. It is one of my favorite courses in DFW. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the GPS system on the carts because it did not work for my groups so don’t pay the extra $5 for it and use that money to purchase the great jalapeno sausage at the food shack on the course.
Played in just under 4 1/2 hours at a very nice pace...greens and fairways were in excellent shape...hope to play this course again
