Of the courses that I find worth your time in the Brownsville area, Los Lagos ranks as the best in my opinion. It is more difficult than my second favorite (Tierra Santa). The layout is challenging, it is well manicured for a valley course, and offers a great golfing experience at a reasonable rate( 40$ range ).It is a "must play" if you enjoy golf.
This course continues to be one of the best in the RGV. Greens are well maintained and fast. Moguls give the course some degree of difficulty. Fairways are good. The sandtraps are a bit on the heavy side, and are unplayable days after a rain(my only negative). Can be slow when the "Winter Texans" are here but it is a good value. The course has great drainage, so it plays well after a rain. Staff is always friendly. I give it a big thumbs up.
Really liked the course but waited almost every hole. The starter didn't know what he was doing. We teed off a 1/2 hour late and then it took us almost 5 1/2 hours to complete. It's too bad, the course was really nice.
Course was well maintained and the greens were in fantastic shape. #14 may be their signature hole, but #9 is a beast! This is a fantastic course for the "bogey" golfer.
