The course is now called Oahe Hills. It is a show and go course--they do not take tee times. You just show up, pay, and get in line at the first tee.
This is a beautiful little hilly 9-hole course. There are no bunkers and the only water is a pond in front of #6. The course measures 2992 from the white tees, has a rating of 34.5 and a slope of 115. It was in very good shape when I was there but it has been a very wet spring and summer. As I understand it, the grass normally turns brown fairly early in the summer. The greens rolled true. The holes are mostly short with 3 of the par 4s between 316-324 and the par 4 9th only 426 yards. #6 is the toughest as it features a blind tee shot up a hill to a green 393 yards away. There is a bell at the 150 marker you ring when you have cleared that spot so the next group can tee off. The 183 yard #7 is also tough as it is not only long but the left side is guarded by a little hill and the green slopes severely left to right. Putts from above the hole are very tough because the ball runs so much.
Oahe Hills also has a driving range and practice green. The staff is very friendly and the cost is appropriate at $15 for walking 9. The course is walkable if you don't mind going up and down hills.
The only bad spot for me was that I showed up on a Sunday afternoon right when a league of going out. There were about 16 people standing around the tee while their foursomes were being made up. I was there to golf as a single. None of the groups had started yet so I really expected them to let me through. They wouldn't. One guy, seeing I was a single, asked the others if I could get out ahead. They all said no. I have golfed a lot of small town courses, a lot of times as a single but sometimes as a twosome, and have never not been let through a larger or slower group. The people in this group were complete jerks. So I said "Screw it." After the first group teed off I followed them down the fairway. When they got to their balls I kept on walking to the 2nd tee. As I got there a single in a cart showed up at the same time. He was a local guy who sometimes played in the league and they wouldn't let him out ahead either.
If you go to Oahe Hills and you see a bunch of people hanging around the clubhouse with all their carts lined up outside, turn around. It's the Sunday league and the jerks won't let you go out ahead.
