My cousin Bob and I drove down from the Binghamton, N.Y. area on 10/17/11 to play the course. We chose this course in large part due to the ratings here on Golflink and the current weather in Stroudsburg. We've played(and rated)dozens of courses within 2 hours drive of Binghamton. Glen Brook was a difficult course to rate due in large part to the recent rains. This has been the wettest season on record for much of P.A. and this course doesn't drain well. A few holes were shortened by the course superintendent to protect the fairways. That meant that a 350 yard par 4 was now a 150 yard par 3 from a temporary tee in the middle of the fairway. This obviously also meant that it was "cart path only" all day, and that's a tough thing on a hilly course like this one. The course is VERY narrow as well, so mis-hits can mean big trouble and big numbers. One other quirk to note is that a couple holes actually require you to hit ACROSS the roadway. It's a bit un-nerving and requires a "spotter" so you don't hit a passing car. It looks as though the course existed before the roadway and the state came in and declared "right of way" and built a road right through the middle of it. The last disappointment was that the bar/grille isn't open on Mondays, so we couldn't rate the food or service. On a more positive note, the course is very pretty and has some thoughtfully designed holes (especially the par 3's). The greens were in nice shape and you could tell that the fairways would be too if they could mow them. The tee boxes needed a little leveling, but were playable. A couple of the bunkers were full of water, but the ones we did play out of were clean and raked, with no shale. The carts were gas powered and in decent shape. All in all this was a nice course. I just wish we could have played it under better conditions.
This is a good old course that is a solid value. The course is always busy so make a tee time.
