Play a part of American golf history at the Mechanicville Golf Club. This golf course is located in a small city of just over 5,000 people on the Eastern side of New York State. Usually courses designed by historic golf architects are very expensive to play, but this one is an exception to the rule. This golf course was designed by Devereaux Emmet in 1909. He was one of the leaders in early American golf course design, and designed over 150 courses worldwide. Mechanicville Golf Course has a classic design for the time period - long, straight fairways cut into dense forest. The Hudson River runs along Hole #4. There are two tee boxes on the course for ladies and men. Here you’ll find two par 5’s, two par 3’s and five par 4’s. The shortest hole is #2 at 130 yards (from the men’s tee) and the longest hole is #8 (522 yards.) There’s a long path between #2 and #3 - taking a cart on this course is recommended. The signature Hole is #6; it’s a challenging blind shot, with a sharp dogleg left directly before the green. The main hazards on this course are trees and water. This golf course is a popular venue for weddings and parties. The clubhouse is fully updated and has a full service restaurant and bar (along with theme nights like Pasta Night.) The course is well maintained and the ownership has kept up with it. This is especially impressive given the age of the course. The price is a little bit high for the area - $38 with cart. It’s still one of the most affordable courses you’ll find that’s been designed by a historic American golf architect. Mechanicville is certainly worth a visit. Enjoy a historic round at a reasonable price and an excellent dining experience after your round!
Great course at a great price. And the facilities, food and service were great too. We booked a corporate tournament and had a fabulous buffet and cocktails at Farrow's (the clubhouse) afterwards. Highly recommended!
This course is very challenging and enjoyable to play. Even though it's a nine hole course, the back nine holes are very different then the front. Par 4's turn to par 3's and par 3's turn to par 4's. Tee boxes vary every hole. Definitely worth the money !!!
A great course that at a reasonable price!
