Course was in really good shape. Starts slow but the back 9 is so much fun. Would play this course often.

'This course is always in great shape. The greens are consistant and roll true. The layout is challenging without playing too long. If I go near pinehurst, I play the Legacy. You should too.

Played Legacy many times in the past, and as always, if you want the visuals; the eye-catching holes that you remember well past your score, the perfect piece of land that is dotted with small lakes and ponds surounded by a forest full of oak and pine, you have come home. In terms of aestetics, Legacy is a visual stunner. The course is fair as an errant shot is not automatic death on the scorecard, is is a mild disruption that calls for skill, accuracy and imagination to save par. The new greens are the ultimate compliment as the turf chosen goes beyond the right call. More apt, these greens are fun, fierce and fast. Play Legacy once, you will now have an old friend to visit when in the area.

Just played Legacy on Sept. 7, 2012. What a great course, best of the three courses we played. My group played 36 holes. Replay rate was only $30, a fair price. The new greens are fantastic, but a little firm, so hit approach shots short of the pin. Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape. Putts roll true on the greens. Ranger was very nice and came around the course with ice cold water on his cart. Drink cart came around about every 3-4 holes. Grill pub has good food at a fair price and the staff in the pub were very friendly. Only improvement needed is the cart paths which are very rough and bumpy. Highly recommend including this course in your golf package.

Played course week of April 23, 2012. Clubhouse staff/pro shop staff not very professional and lacked a customer service attitude. Fairways were in great shape but at a $90 rate, greens were average at best.

After being closed from June through August of 2011 for renovation, the course has re-opened with brand new Mini-Verde greens, renovated bunkers and more teeing options. If you haven't played there since last summer, you need to try it, it's fantastic.

Great executive course. Friendly staff. The only draw back I can see is that the fairways need distance markes for 50, 100 &150 (on par 4 & 5 )

Amenities: hardly anything left - about to close up shop.
Difficulty: get in the woods and you are screwed... lots of trees.
Maintenance: Greens about to die. Brown Concrete.
Scenery: Beautiful course. really wish I could see it at its peak.
Value: Very annoyed. Didnt know the course was "killing" the greens until after the first hole. Clubhouse attendant didn't share this tidbit of knowledge, but still charged us full price.

Overall: No longer a 4.5 star course. 3 at best. Overall feeling that the course has been ignored by course designer. All pictures online feel like false advertising now.

Disappointed Traveler from TN

The greens are healed and the Legacy is back to being the first class golf course it has always been. It is one of the reasons we make four golf trips to this area each year to play the Legacy. If you are planning a trip to Pinehurst to play the more well known courses make sure you play the Legacy! You won't regret it.

Just played there yesterday. They have basically lost their greens. I would not plan on playing there until at least Late September. Still a great course and routing, just in very poor shape right now. The National Club and Mid South are the same way. Talamore's greens are in pretty good shape. If you have a trip planned, I would call and check on conditions and change courses if you can!
