The best thing about Island Green Golf Club is that it’s a challenging course that more experienced golfers will enjoy. This course has plenty of hills and trees to test your aim. Not only that, but the holes are long so you also need to have power in your swing and endurance to play an 18-hole round on this regulation course.

The longest hole at Island Green Golf Club is 557 yards from the blue tee. 10 of the 18 holes at this course are over 400 yards. This is truly a course that will test every element of your game - from putting (watch out, these greens are quick) to hitting on uphill and downhill lies, and even hitting from under trees, this course definitely isn’t boring. You’ll even encounter a few blind shots from the tee.

Even though this is a lengthy course, pace of play is good, since this is a semi-private club that generally brings in golfers who are more experienced or playing rounds at least one per week.

With that being said, it’s not really suited to juniors and beginners. There’s just too many challenges with the design of the course for a newer golfer to enjoy their round. There is a driving range and putting green on-site for your less experienced golf companion to practice on while you play a round. This golf course also has very comfortable Greg Norman golf carts, so you can certainly bring a friend or your junior golfer along just to get a sense of the course and enjoy its beauty.

The course was not in the best state of repair around 2015. Recently, it has been under new ownership and the maintenance of the fairway and the greens has improved a lot. The biggest problem on this course now is that other golfers are lazy about replacing their divots. The new owners have also upgraded the clubhouse, and it’s a nice spot to spend some time in after a round.

The only other minor problem is signage. Since the course is hilly and has plenty of trees, it can be a bit difficult to find your way between the holes. Having more visible signage would improve the pace of play and make for a more enjoyable experience overall.

Island Green Golf Club has excellent staff since the new owners took over. Not only are they friendly, but they are also happy to give you pointers on how to best play this challenging course if you ask. So, don’t be shy, because you’ll definitely need as much help as you can get to get a good score.

Another great bonus feature of Island Green Golf Club is an excellent couple’s league, which is perfect for a date night.
All in all, Island Green Golf Club is definitely worth a visit. Expect a challenging but fun round and a warm greeting from the staff.

A challenging course with a lot of hills, creating several blind shots from tee boxes. The course could stand to be maintained a little better, but as others have mentioned, if golfers would replace their divots it would help considerably. Greens are fast and undulating providing a challenge on the putting surface. At $29 on a weekday, cart included, you could do a lot worse in the area.
