Made the trip to New England to play 3 states. I rented a nice hotel at York Beach to be my go to place at night. I played Cape Neddick first and really enjoyed the quiet and slow pace of the day. This was a very nice course and I would recommend it for anyone at any skill level. Beautiful time to go to Maine, the weather was perfect. Over 4 days, I also played New Hampshire and Massachusetts, checking off 18 states in my 50 state quest, this course being 16th.
While on vacation at York Beach, I played The Ledges, The Outlook, Cape Neddick and Old Marsh. I play to a 4 and I walk. Cape Neddick is a reasonable old layout. Don’t expect a great old Don Ross layout – he designed 18, but 9 were lost during the war so this is a two-nine layout. The old holes are relatively short and interesting. The newer holes are longer and more challenging. The course overall feels short. It is an easy walk and a pleasurable place to play. The most convenient and busiest of the places I played. If the course had better balance , I would rate it higher, but to me, Cape Neddick rates #4 of the four.
