One of the biggest changes to this course is that the back 9 has been converted to a disc golf course. In case you aren’t familiar with it, disc golf is where you throw a frisbee down the golf course and try to land it in the basket at the end of the course instead of golfing into a hole on the green.

So, if you sign up to play 18 holes, you will actually be playing the front 9 twice. Gardner Golf Course is exactly what you’d expect from a solid public course. It is decently maintained (although the greens are dry at times.) One thing I appreciate is the owners are always making small improvements to the course.

Amenities are basic but function. The clubhouse is clean with an open layout, and there is also a driving range with nets on-site to practice.

This course has a nice pace of play - there is a good balance between the Par 3, 4 and 5 holes. #9 and #13 are the longest holes - both are around 500 yards from the white tee. The first half of the front 9 features wide open fairways with a few trees on the sides. As you get to the later half of the back 9, the landscape changes and becomes more heavily wooded.

Hole #7 is the signature hole. There are dense treelines on both sides of the fairway, and it’s a very short hole (120 yards from the blue tee) where you’ll have to hold back a bit and choose the right club to avoid hitting out from under the surrounding trees. Holes #4 and #5 are parallel to one another, so watch out for flying balls from other golfers.

There are gently rolling hills and plenty of uneven lies to keep the round interesting. Most of the fairways are very straight. Trees are the main hazard on this course. Overall, it’s a moderately difficult course that is also playable by beginners.

This course is also very reasonably priced. You can get 18 holes and a cart for $25. Staff are friendly and the overall feel of this course is laid back. It’s a solid choice for locals that want to get in a quick practice round.

Great round! This local course is becoming the hidden gem. Hat’s off to the superintendent and crew. Really enjoyed to the improved fairways and approaches to each green. The improvements are showing and I observed groups enjoying the course.

Solid course! Decent layout, decent condition, good fun, and for 30 something dollars, not a bad Sunday afternoon. Solid course but nothing special.

Just played yesterday, so I can't comment on the course condition due to the bad weather we have had, but I have been playing there since 2003 and Jim has made improvements to the course almost every year. It does have some challenging holes. Have to love 13....
