I haven't played here in 25 years and had heard that the property had changed hands, resulting in poor conditions. I then heard that the new ownership was investing in the property and that conditions were on the upswing. These words were dead on. Conditions are very nice, the greens are the best I've played on in a long while (but I do wish they were just a tiny bit quicker). The only exception is the 4th fairway; it was poor (mole invasion?) 25 years ago and still is ... Staff was friendly and upbeat. Will definitely be back!

I used to play this course in the late 70's and it was one of the finest in the county. I had read reviews that its conditioning had gotten pretty bad in recent years but that it was recently purchased and the new owner has made new improvements. I just played it on 6/14/2013 and can attest that the course is returning to its previous status of being one of the best public courses in the county. The layout is the toughest you will find in the area. The greens were pristine. The fairways & rough were plush. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. It was a great value. The only negative issue (very minor) I had was that the fairways were cut a little long.

Well, Par8 and Fred said it. The new owners are doing everything possible to try and return Pheasant Valley to the quality course it used to be. Upgrades for 2010 include a new pump for the irrigation system that will create a more uniform and consistent watering pattern. The new pump is already on site and installation has begun. Obviously the fairways have all been reseeded and some have been reshaped. The hillbilly drainage system created in the past has been replaced with a spectacular new system that drains this course better than anyone could have ever imagined. The greens have been enlarged, aerated, treated with grass cocktails, and they putt real nice. The junk piles of earth are all replaced with park like mounds landscaped with nice grass. The view from the dining room with a setting sun is returning if not getting better than what people remember. Recently, Pheasant Valley won the best bar-b-que award at the 2010 Taste of Crown Point for their ribs. As you drive in to the course, we know the parking lot is a mess and the driveway is a mess. The bid was released on July 2nd, 2010 to re-pave the parking lot, re-pave the driveway, and re-pave all of the cart paths. In addition to that, new washrooms will be built in the clubhouse. The contract for that rebuild was released the last week of June. By the fall of 2010, Pheasant Valley will once again be the treat and worth the trip that it was in the past. The course is nice now, it will get better. Dave Hegan

Last year it needed a lot of work. Thay have put in the work on the course, and its a nice course. Next year will even be better. The pro shop is anything but. I could really care less though. Im there to slap the ball around, not hang in the pro shop. The lounge is great, it has a nice view.
I love it!! Do me a favor and stay away so I can continue to play at my pace, and not be crowded.
