I played Stonewall Orchard for the first time today and loved the course. It's challenging when you least expect it and solid shots are a must. Local knowledge would be a huge advantage. The greens were a mix of speeds so touch was important throughout. I'll definitely play again.

Awesome course! Well maintained. Has been a US Open qualifier in the past. Nice bar, pro shop, and driving range. The only gripe is that $75 with a cart may be a tad too high. I'd say $50-$55 is more reasonable. Definitely worth a whirl.

This is my favorite public course in Chicago, and certainly the class of the area. Pure golf, no contrived shots, good golf is rewarded, and if you play on the correct lines, not as penal as would initially appear. Previous comment on 18 is nonsense. The third shot is a stern but fair challenge. The pristine setting and professional staff round out the experience.

It's a great test of golf. There are no homes built around it and its not close to any roads, so there is a "middle of nowhere" feel to it. Plenty of natural wetlands to enjoy and the greens are about as quick and well maintained that you'll find in the NW suburbs of Chicago. The staff is very professional and it has a distinctive feel to an up-scale course. If you're a golfer that enjoys a challenge, and can afford it, this will be a course you'll remember. Even the notorious 18th hole. It's a tough hole, but a well laid out strategy keeps you with a good score and the same ball you teed off with!! Enjoy it!
