Heritage Bluffs is a very scenic course for Illinois with rolling hills and lots of trees. there is a great variety of types of holes on this course with some having tree lined fairways and others more links style. the course in general is a good challenge and will prove difficult for even low to mid handicappers. Maintenance is pretty good, yet i would say that it is one of the aspects that is a little lacking (although it is really good for a municipal course). Also, most rounds will take 4.5-5 hours.

Fairly priced. Very challenging and long. Bring plenty of extra balls. The weather in the summer of 2010 has damaged several fairways here like many of the other nearby courses. Not in as good of shape as it usually is this year.

I would not say this course is walking friendly, nor would I recommend this course for seniors who may have a little trouble walking, even with a cart. Conveniently located From I 80 and I 55. One of Nugent's better designs. A lot of variety in the holes, links style, and narrow tree lined fairways. 4 sets T boxes are generously laid out to give a good challenge to all skill levels.

Played this course late in the year, so no bev cart service. Water stations every 3rd hole or so.

My only complaints with the course were the yardage markings were hard to find on the fairways at times. 150, 200 yd markers not visible above the ground, such as a flag along the side or in the middle. A couple of the par 4 holes were roped off cart path only. This really slowed play down.

The course looked nice but I wouldn't know. We pulled into the parking lot and saw 22 people (5 foursomes and a twosome) waiting for the tee box. We went in and asked and we were told to expect a 6 hr round. WE LEFT!! So, I would say do not go there on a weekend. The course did appear to be in good shape.
