Like Farah Fawcett, I'm sure Fairfield Plantation was once a glorious gem, but she is now weathered, old and in need of some TLC around the edges. Don't get me wrong, I would go back and pay the $25 green fee if it meant I have the course to myself again. (it was empty) I thought the greens rolled true once you got on the green, the only problem was I hit two really nice, high shots that refused to stay on the green. Both rolled into bunkers. Speaking of bunkers, they are well placed around the greens making for a challenge that I actually enjoyed. The entire course runs through a neighborhood with a never-ending tree line, so be prepared to lose some balls no matter what your handicap is.But the clubhouse and neighboring pool is definitely outdated. It gives you the nostalgic feeling of stepping back into the Carter Administration. Again, another thing that strangely, I liked.
I played on a Thursday morning. I found that the course was not in great shape nor was the service. There were a few challenging holes. Not over priced but you get what you pay for. I would probably not play there again.
