The wife and I played this course last week and as we are average golfers we found this course to be beautiful but very challenging, so much in fact it almost took the fun out of the game. In my opinion this course was not designed for the common week-end golfer.
Played in a two-day tournament from the blues with a slope of 146. I don't think I'd want to pay the rack rate of $125. Course was in great shape and very scenic. Love the lack of houses. Worthy of the slope rating. Adequate room off the tee on most holes, but very penal on bad shots. Fairway bunkers were well placed for my length (average 240 off tee). Lost 5 balls the first day, but none the second. Greens are challenging. If you spray it off the tee, I doubt you'll like this course. Good mixture of length of holes. I hope to return next year.
Beautiful setting, very nice staff. The course has a number of blind shots, which makes playing a resort course that you may have never seen difficult. Also, I found the green contours to border on the ridiculous. Not really my "cup of tea"
We played this course last week after a rainstorm and had the course almost all to ourselves! It was like playing in a nature preserve. Beautiful and challenging. Can't wait to go back!
Fantastic course and very difficult. One of the best in the state. No houses, out with nature.
Butchered this course on 2/23/11, and got a chance to redeem myself 4/21/11 made up 14 strokes, can not wait to play it again(from Jersey don't know when)! The course was in perfect condition all the way around. I think after Pebble Beach this is my 2nd favorite. Greens are fast and undulating, not one house on the course it's all wilderness a definate plus for me. Staff very friendly. Not cheap but well worth it. I payed $125, but after 1:40 it drops to $85. Went as a single and hooked up with a very friendly threesome and had a great time.
wow...great course that had me looking silly at times. a real test. played in mid nov. and the greens were hard, fast, with incredible undulation. had a great time. both my playing partner and I were first timers and certainly would have benefitted from some knowledge of the course. all in all, an excellent golf experience on an excellent course. intend to play it again.
I am a 13 handicap and this course made me feel like I just took up the sport (92). It is one of the most difficult layouts I have ever played. Course is long 7400 yards from the tips, narrow and the greens are undulating. That said I want another crack at it soon.
