Very slow play on weekends. They tend to have tournaments on Saturdays which blocks tee times in the morning and slows play dramatically. 5 1/2 rounds very common on Saturdays. They book tournaments throughout the week. Management seems indifferent to complaint. Buddy system very apparent here. If you know management you get priority. Tee boxes are in poor shape and greens have many unrepaired ball marks. Fun course to play if you look past the above.
Beautifully maintained course with spectacular scenery/impressive views of Pikes Peak. Short par 4 1st hole may be most difficult starting hole in Colorado with two native grass, brush protected creeks, small landing areas and narrow entrance to green well protected by trees and creek to right and a deceptive green that breaks sharply toward creek. 6th hole a difficult par 5 with right sloping fairway that funnels all shots toward brushy creek/ravine on right. 15th hole a beautiful downhill dogleg right par 4 with pond to right of green and great views of Pikes Peak. 18th hole a very difficult closing par 4 sloping to left funneling balls into brush and trees in that direction with a long-drive-prohibiting hedge of trees to right and with a large tree in fairway 100 yards in front of the green. To summarize: Tight fairways with ball vanishing knee high native grass just off the fairways and nearly constant OB with nearby houses, trees and brushy hazards requires at least a couple sleeves of balls, and maybe a whole box for the average golfer. Hit the driving range before hitting the 1st hole. Beautiful scenery and great maintenance make the course well-worth playing.
Great public course. Some holes are scary tough. Prepare to lose balls on some tight turns and brush.
