nice doglegs
It is a very nice course. I played this course on July 10, 2010 and aside from the train roaring by on a couple of holes and the fairways being a little beat up at times, I really can't knock the course. The pace of play was great and the staff was extremeley friendly. It's on the pricey side but it beats a six hour round at a muni course any day.
I Played this course a couple of days ago 3/1/2010 and there was definitely the good the bad, and the better. the good was the first two staff members I came in contact with. the bag guy out front and the guy in the shop were exceptionally nice and extremely welcoming. Our tee time was at 12:30 but the 3 of us got out pretty early since the course wasn't so busy. the bad was the fact that I was expecting a whole lot more for the $90 fees. I mean come on Irvine Co. why isn't there GPS on the carts? and why is there 3 and 4 different types of grass in the fairways? and on a number of holes you could here the drone of the 5 freeway. The ugly came when on hole #8 this older Marshall pulls up to me and the first words out of his mouth were, "Hey I'm not racist at all but I have a couple of black jokes for you". I couldn't believe it and so a day later I contacted Erick Lohman, the Director of golf and he completely changed my perception. Erick was completely apologetic and listened to everything I had to say before uttering one word. the way he handled the situation was unbelievable. it was the perfect model of A+ customer service. Oak Creek and the Irvine Co. has definitely won 100% having Erick as the Director. Today I am a happy man and I feel like my issue was handled to the tee. thanks Erick, Tony, and Erick the bag guy and this was the better part of my experience.
