Horrible Greens!
This has to be one of the worst courses in Sountern California. It is poorly maintained, crab grass everywhere, standing water all over the course, chopy and unkept greens and I have never seen one marshal on the course to enforce course rules or the slow play. Horrible! However, it's management is what leaves the most to be desired. I have never been to a course where they wont let a single play but will let groups of 6 out at anytime. The General Manager "Mike" has the absolute worst attitude, is rude and confrontational and shows absolutely no respect of consideration for his customers. Last time I called into the course to discuss my issues with him and the course I was told if I didn't like i could find another course to play and then he hung up on me. My recomendation to all considering playing this course is, don't waste your money because I can assure you your money is not going back into the course.
Played Cresta Verde on Thursday June 3, 2010. The golf course is in pretty good condition. Not sure why the other posters said it was in bad shape. Greens are fast and roll very well. The fairways with the exception of two on the back side are great. The two bads ones are coming back after some water damage due to all the rain this year. Golfers should remember that golf courses are built in water run off and power line areas. Go play it again.... Fees are affordable.
I played the course for the first time with my son on a Sunday morning. $45 each to play a goat ranch. The tee boxes and the greens were in fare shape, but everything else was a disaster. The grounds keeper should be shot and the gopher hole ridden pasture they call fairways need to be renovated. Cresta Verde is way over priced for what you get and that isn't much.
